Equity, Diversity, Inclusion
At Dorridge Primary School we know the transformational role that education can play, not only in the lives of children and their families, but whole communities too. We focus on inclusion and equity within our school, to make sure that all children feel welcomed, and included. We make sure that every single child is respected, valued and celebrated as a unique individual. We welcome our duties under the Equality Act 2010 to eliminate discrimination. We fully support each other, providing a culture of opportunities, so that everyone can reach their full potential regardless of disability, ethnicity, gender, religion, belief and sexual identify.
No form of discrimination is tolerated, and pupils are encouraged to show respect for those who share the protected characteristics (Equality Act 2010).
Elements of the protected characteristics are planned and delivered with careful consideration, so that our pupils develop age-appropriate knowledge and understanding.
The 9 Protected Characteristics are actively promoted in school through:
- Our school ethos statements, SIP, and SEF
- Our school core values
- Our school behaviour policy
- Conscious role modelling by all adults in the school community
- Active engagement and communication with parents and carers
